Melonnie Walker is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Master of Arts program in Theatre History, where she focused her research on the legacy of August Wilson. Her published thesis explores how Wilson’s American Century Cycle preserves history and honors African rituals throughout the ten-play canon. She has also served as production scholar to lecture on the themes and content of Fences and Radio Golf. She is a member of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas serves as an executive board member and Communications Director of the August Wilson Society. Recent dramaturgical credits include Seven Guitars (UMKC Theatre); Eclipsed (Unicorn Theatre); Freedom Rider and Fences (Kansas City Repertory Theatre); The Colored Museum (The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City); and Radio Golf (KC MeltingPot Theatre).
